How long did it take you to discover your "signature" face. I'm still not great with eyes, but I'm a lip master. I'm learning to do make up at a snails pace.
It should take about two years to FIND YOUR FACE... keep experimenting and trying new things ;) but eventually you wil find it ;)
I'm horrible at blending make up on the eyes....any advice?
Start with the lightest color... do the entire area you want light and then half way into the dark area..... and with the darker color blend the edge down to the DARK area etc. :)

(BUT It took me almost 6 months to pick it out..... (i only had the EYEZ)

Do you ever get tired of working in bars, dealing with drunks, smoke,drugs etc, not to mention working late nites. I worked in the Gay bar setting for a couple of years and it burned me out pretty quick. Do you ever wish you had a 9-5 job?
I NEVER WISH I had a 8-5 job NO....
BUT I dont only work in bars... My carreer has expanded to Performing arts centers, country clubs, birthday parties, parks, street festivals.... and NO I love to entertain... sometimes the smoke bothers me... but most clubs now dont allow it ;) :)

after you do your makeup....GO BACK and RE Draw all your liners to finish the look... (I personally draw my brows on with pencil first and then finish it with liquid liner)

I did drag years ago and took a 8 year break....I am starting back but the pay rate at several bars has decreased alot...Is this a national trend?...how much should i expect to be payed?
When I first Started I heard many girls were getting 300 do do the shows or to make an appearance... and that was even for weekly performances... but Im not sure if that was exaggerated talk of fierceness..... MOST Girls have that problem .. but for a pageant you must have the gown made for you.. one of the things they judge on everyone is the FIT and was it made for your body etc... so even small girls sometimes a store bought gown doesn't fit that good

Afer Grad I moved to Tulsa Oklahoma
Right before the New year of 2000 I moved to FL (Naples and then FTL in 2001)
SO A LOT OF PLACES - BUT I used to claim Tulsa for that is where i went to college and became an adult.. and several of my siblings followed me there and still lived there when I moved.. but my parents moved back to AK, and now several of my siblings live there as well as many of my aunts and uncles / cousins etc.

Im a MU&hair stylist& have been doing drag for awhile,mostly pageants,benefits&some small clubs.I still love my boy job,but wat to have a 2nd career in drag.What is the best way to get regular bookings?Keep in mind im in Dallas,&the competition is HUGE.
Just like with any skilled profession or sport... Basketball for example... you will need to play a SHIT TON of Basketball before someone is going to pay for you to play it... SO if you want to be a PROFESSIONAL Basketball Player you are going to have to LOVE IT A LOT and play it ALL THE TIME to get better and get exposure and then people will notice your good and want you to play on their team :)

Dear Misty, I have worked in retail before and I would like to begin working at a cosmetics counter (like Chanel, MAC, Etc.) How did you begin working in cosmetics for Versace? Did you work in cosmetics prior to working for Versace? How can I do that?
ME PERSONALLY... yea I studied makeup in the theater program while I was in college... when I went to Hair school the Teach realized I knew more about Makeup than she did so she had me teach the Makeup portion at beauty school and then she referred me to Glamour Shots.... and From Glamour shots I went to Versace...
BUT for someone that is just wanting to work in retail makeup as long as you have some talent and a drive.. they will train you :)

Hey girl whats up. I was gonna say My closest friend Bimbi loves doing drag and hes 18 but after all these years his mom said to stopand why are you gay and hes an amazing person and his mom is being a bitch now hes been doing drag for 2 years now....
The bottom line for me is t hat he is under age and lives under the roof of someone else and I DO NOT THINK that she should Jeopardize that relationship with his mother etc... If he pisses her off she can kick him out... and that would be bad... SO sure BUILD UP the DRAG and store it at your place and once he is out on his own.. and ready to FLOURISH.. he has the costumes etc :)

As a CHILD My eyez were COBALT BLUE... and as I get older they have turned a bit YELLO around the IRIS.... SO its a crazy color of blue.. but they are mine :)

the eyelashes i have hurt when i put them on how do you put on eyelashes and what kind should i get to make them as comfortable as possible? thanx Misty
Most Eyelashes are the same as in SHAPE... but when you put them on experiment with putting them CLOSE to your Natural lash and FARTHER From your lash line... etc... I dont put them very close to my lashes.... and I have no discomfort :)

i have finally worked up the courage to finally ask you a question. My 3 Best Friends are BI but for some reason it seems like they are the only ones pointed out. They know that i will always be there but there still really shy about it. How can i help?

YES... Drag is VERY EXPENSIVE .. and to be successful you will need to keep your boy job..... let your boy job pay the rent/ electricity etc.. and your girl job can pay for makeup gowns etc....
BUT You will want a boy job that is FLEXIBLE... you don't want an 8-5 for a boy job for that will take a TOLL on your life working nights.. but it would be great to be a server etc... where you can get someone to easily cover your shift :)

I would say yeah.... let it go for a while.. if they want you.. they will ask you... unfortunately many people dont like confrontation.. so to your face they will say WOW your great YEAH... Id love to book you... but when you turn around they are like I HOPE SHE NEVER CALLS... but again if they really want you.. they will call you / get you etc... but keep working on it.. get better and better and they will want you :)

When I worked as stripper my friends always told me to be social and flirtaious to increase tips. But it backfired. The only time it worked was when I was choosy about who I spoke to. What are your tips for "reading" people?
In my opinion.... if your not flirtatious and if your to choosy about who you talk to etc... how are they going to feel comfortable tipping you? Just as a Bartender would you want everyone to think that you like them and they have a chance with you.... It takes a VERY DETERMINED person to be persistent with someone that ignores them....not many people will be up for that kind of a challenge...

First of all, I am a girl. Very girly, etc. I have LOTS of drag friends. They all seem to want to try their drag looks on me before they do shows. They also borrow a lot of my stuff, makeup, etc. This kind of bothers me. Should it? Also, how do I tell em?
Have you ever started to do something new...something that you were SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT.... like maybe a TAP CLASS or beauty school.... and you were so excited you couldn't stop thinking about it or talking about it... and it had such a passion in you that you had to share it with your friends. I can only imagine that these drag friends are NEW Queens and that they are excited about learning and practicing ... and a great way to LEARN is to do -DO... and try it on others.... so they can see exactly what it looks like to others, and not in the mirror... IM sure they are not meaning to hurt your feelings in any way by wanting to dress you up.... but if you dont want to play dress up let them know...
BUT as for them Borrowing your stuff.... If that BOTHERS YOU... you have to NIP that in the bud right away or it will not stop.

Hey Girl.... the background pic I have the same MAKEUP I always wear only difference is im using a pink shadow so its more soft and im also using my real brows... but everything else is the same... Contour... lips etc... :) as you will see in my misty minutes ;)
I get major help when I do shows. I have my friend do my make up but I also do it when it comes down to it. Some people say that I am NOT a real queen becuase I have some one do my makeup, is this true?

I think you can keep doing what you LOVE but it may be BEST to adapt to your surroundings.... and tweek your act a bit.... so its more palatable to your new community.
Not only will you grow and expand as a performer but you will make more money that way..... and WHEN you feel the time is right you might be able to bring your old school act in on them... but yeah.... When in ROME...

I think that MOST of the TRUE EDUCATION you will get will be from the THEATER CLASS..... they will teach you how to RE SHAPE and RE CONSTRUCT your face.... make it slender... older etc... more fem :)
Cosmetology makeup will teach you how to wear a LOT and look like your not wearing much at all
