Here in San Diego we have contests during Latin nights where they decide the winner by how loud the audience screams. What do you think about that? Do you prefer judges or audience screams to decide winners?

I like audience applause.... for many reasons.... As a CLUB and as a PROMOTER its SMART... the people that enter the contest are going to tell their friends to come and support and cheer..... From a fairness point of view... if someone is REALLY GOOD the audience will cheer for him even if they are someone else's friend. From an EMCEE Stand point..if the people are NEXT TO THE STAGE SCREEEEAMING in my ear and I cannot tell if its the whole room or just my area... (ESP if hte prize is BIG) I have made the top two contestants turn around and face the wall and then had the audience raise their hands for hte one they wanted to win.. and ALMOST ALWAYS its OBVIOUS by show of hands who the audience fave is... and then where the cluster of friends for the other contestant is sitting.
