I was wondering if you have any for being a new drag queen and getting jobs. I have done a couple of shows, but it seems the bigger queens don't like me. I try to be super nice to everyone but I still get shade thrown at me. Thanks♥

Why won't you answer my question, how do I start a drag queen?
OK... there is NO correct formula... EVERYWHERE IS DIFFERENT...
BUT what I do know is that NOBODY will hire a boy that says he does drag ... they MUST see you in person... SO the next time your local bar has a BIG PARTY... SHOW UP IN DRAG... and offer to help... Sell Shots... Call Raffle Tickets... Announce the Drink SPecials etc... this will be a TINY FOOT in the door but show that your eager.. and IN FACE you can show what you look like and that your good on mic..
NOW YOU NEED to show that you can perform... THE BEST way to do this is at the NEXT benifit... There are often benifits where they help raise money for whatever... and ask girls to perform... I have NEVER known anyone to TURN DOWN HELP (unless there was only an hour left and 10 girls etc) BUT generally NO matter how ugly or UN talented the girl is.... they will not turn away free help... (BTW When I first started... I used to experiment with my looks etc... for at a benifit you cant keep yoru tips anyway... so I would SEE what I looked like with GLITTER ETC... and if they hated it... and I didnt make any tips its ok I wasnt out anything LOL) BUT at the benifit... TELL MGMT HEY... I am a new entertainer.... YES.. but I have been practicing and I am EAGER... and I want to HELP / WORK... THEN Remind him that your NEXT or whatever and ASK him to watch you.. and give you feedback when your finished...

YES AND NO..... NO - Not in my BOY HAIR??? NO... but I do have Naturally Long hair....AND YES I have bought wigs before and put Weave in them :)
What is the best way to do do drag on a dime, when you only have a wig an some makeup but no dress? Also do you make your own outfit, what all would i need to make my own as well?

I like audience applause.... for many reasons.... As a CLUB and as a PROMOTER its SMART... the people that enter the contest are going to tell their friends to come and support and cheer..... From a fairness point of view... if someone is REALLY GOOD the audience will cheer for him even if they are someone else's friend. From an EMCEE Stand point..if the people are NEXT TO THE STAGE SCREEEEAMING in my ear and I cannot tell if its the whole room or just my area... (ESP if hte prize is BIG) I have made the top two contestants turn around and face the wall and then had the audience raise their hands for hte one they wanted to win.. and ALMOST ALWAYS its OBVIOUS by show of hands who the audience fave is... and then where the cluster of friends for the other contestant is sitting.
hello miss misty .well i use to do drag and i quit because i was told that i would never go anywhere with it and that i wasn't beautiful enough. but performing in front of people is a passion of mine being on stage makes me feel like a star .

As for you not being good then nobody will hire you, but Im sure you can find LOTS OF BENEFITS that you can volunteer your time / while you practice your look and improve on your performance ability. "Practice makes perfect".... Well NOBODY WILL EVER BE PERFECT but you can definitely get better and surprise your haters when you start to get bookings.

dear misty. i use to do drag but quit after being told i wasn't good enough.doing drag made me feel free .i love performing on stage .but since i was told i wasn't good enough i quit due to believeing them .any advice u can give me. i wanna do drag again

My goal #1 is to entertain. and I truly enjoy numbers that invoke a reaction... or emotion from the audience... I love things that are Controversial, that require thought and maybe even push the envelope. Thus being Performance art. :) XOXO

I've been taking care of my disabled parents for 6 years. My brother keeps pushing me to get a job. I try. I found out that he wants me to have a job so I won't have to come live with him when they die. I'm gonna be homeless. What's your opinion?

Gosh that is hard.... The typical thing is People borrow stuff and dont give it back..... (from eyeliner to costumes) But i think the worst thing was from a queen that was my friend... We had been planning a trip to Gay Days Orlando for several months. The Night before we were supposed to leave she canceled on me - for a local booking -business is business right?. But she also canceled all my bookings for the week cause she figured I wouldn't want to go alone. Well I contacted a different friend and went with him ... That next night IN ORLANDO we were at a club and in walks this queen and her abusive boyfriend who I couldn't stand. SO LONG STORY SHORT... My closest friend at the time... Canceled a trip that we had planned on for almost a year... so that she could go with her abusive boyfriend instead of me. I WAS BEYOND PISSED.... Our friendship was eternally changed. We didn't talk for years... I have forgiven her but Trust is like a mirror.. you can glue it back together.. but you will always see it there..... I still love and care for her but we and our friendship has never been the same.

Is drag your full time job? Do you have another job when not in drag. Only reason I ask is I have a friend that works a drag show at night once a week and then he has a regular unglamorous job as a boy. he says there is really no money in drag.
Unfortunately HE IS RIGHT!!!!!! UNIVERSALLY DRAG is under appreciated and UNDER PAID all over the US... Esp in NYC and KEY WEST, and South Beach... Either they dont pay you at all (Tips only) or they pay you bare bones like $25 or $50 a night... and that is NOTHING - thats not even a wig. And people wonder why queens are so CHEAP... Clothes, rhinestones, hair makeup it all costs MONEY and so frequently we are asked to perform for free or next to nothign... OH PLEASE HELP we are raising money for this... or we need an EMCEE ... etc.... and the queens are THE FIRST you call when you need to raise money.. they perform and emcee and give back.... BUT YEAH... its often times a thankless job... and its something that you need to LOVE If you want to do it. (Since 2005 I have been fortunate enough to be supported by my drag) however Im a capricorn and I like nice things... SO YES I too have a less glamourous Day Job. But its something I LOVE and the hours are VERY Flexable, so If I need to take off to do drag etc... its cool :)

hey misty question where can you find the best eyelashes out there. i have had no luck finding good lashes.
I would say go to the THEATER STORES.... Some of the "REAL GIRL" beauty supplies don't have HUGE lashes, but the ones that carry theater makeup... will carry the BIG lashes.

LOL you are silly. I use a video editing program on my Laptop called IMOVIE, and it just came with the lap top and through playing around and trying different things I found what Liked. My first videos all had different intros but once I found the two I liked I assigned them Misty Minute, and Ask Misty LOL :)

aww thanks! The basis of my education came from the Theater department at my college. As a theater major we had to take makeup so that if we ever had to do community theater where there were no makeup artists we would know how to do our own makeup. From there I have taught myself through trial and error and practice. From there I got a job at Glamor Shots, and then at Origins, and then at Versace and then at Lancome all doing makeup. So I did have some education there as well but all the drag things came from watching, learning and asking other girls how and why....
